Annealed or Toughened Glass, Which is more safer?

Looking back to an incident happened in Kerala few days back a women bleed to death after slamming her head into a banks glass door and impaling herself onto the shredded glass. This incident has happened due to the usage of annealed glass in Kerala which has ended up in taking someones life .We never expect a material which is used for our protection turns out to be our enemy. In a framed partition or door the glass is normally 5 mm thick. An annealed glass door will not ensure the safety of your life as it will be a very thin portion of glass which is used. Once the glass door cracks it starts propagating, tension is further concentrated at the tip of the crack, causing it to propagate at the speed of sound in the material. Consequently, annealed glass is fragile and it breaks into irregular and sharp pieces this is what happened in Kerala.

We at Builttech assure you complete safety in all our projects without any compromise in quality and safety. Our experienced professionals will carve your dream project with ease and without a look back.
Builttech uses the best glass material for all our customers which ensure the complete safety when the project is designed from scratch. Tempered or toughened glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. Tempering puts the outer surfaces into compression and the interior into tension. Such stresses causes the glass and when it’s broken, it crumbles into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards as plate glass does. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury. As we use Toughening glass for all our project which is 5 times stronger then other commonly used regular glass available in the market. The more you use Toughening in the glass the more safety is guaranteed the extra cost for Toughening is just Rs.25 per square foot. This will prevent injury in case of an impact, since toughened glass is 5 times stronger and in case if it breaks, it will disintegrate in to very small crystals and will be easy to clear without any harm to your fellow beings. The importance of safety glass must be acquainted and educated to all the customers in order to avoid such accidents in the coming future.
